On behalf of the Main Committee, I would like to wish a belated welcome to both old and new parents and students to our school,
The new academic year has started off extremely well and we are especially proud of the academic achievements of the students who sat GCSE, AS Level and A level exams. These results can only be achieved by continuing to maintain the high standards for which our school has become known. Maintaining these high standards is in all our interests and helps us to co-ordinate as one large family, which in turn also benefits our individual families and children.
Appropriate behaviour is essential to the development of responsible and self-disciplined citizens and to the operation of an effective school. Proper behaviour, although governed by many specific laws, policies, regulations and school rules, must always and simply be based on three principles: (i)respect for oneself, (ii)respect for the worth and dignity of others, and (iii)respect for one's own and others' property.
Good conduct is not only a matter of observing a list of rules but also a matter of care, sensitivity, good example and involvement in the school as a community. The beginning of our new academic year affords us the opportunity to remind ourselves of the fundamental rules which apply to students, parents, teachers and any other person present on school premises.
Rules
1. Demonstrate dignity and show kindness and respect to others
2. Never engage in, or tolerate offensive, insulting, threatening or abusive language or behaviour
3. Display and promote high standards of behaviour
4. [Respect the decisions of the Headmaster, Teachers and Main Committee and to follow the proper process for the filing of any complaints/Never engage in public criticism of [ ]
5. Refrain from and refuse to tolerate any bullying
6. Respect and care for our environment
7. Comply with the school’s rules and regulations issued from time to time
As you know, the successful running and financing of our school is dependent on the help and support we receive from families and friends, and indeed we welcome and encourage you all to visit and remain at the school during school hours so as to maintain a family, supportive atmosphere which benefits students, families, teachers and the community as a whole.
You will appreciate that this concession is conditional on people respecting the learning environment and maintaining proper behaviour and decorum so as to set an appropriate example. Disruption of the orderly process of the school is prohibited and physical or verbal abuse will not be tolerated. In the unlikely event that any person causes such disruption or breaches any of these fundamental rules, the Headmaster, his designates and the Main Committee (who are the Governors and the Trustees of the school) are authorised to deny, ban or bar access and to remove or request the removal of any such person.
Our school motto is “Achieve and Succeed”. We know that you will help and support us to ensure that the social and educational aspirations which we have all worked so hard to develop over the years are maintained and that our motto is put into effect.
